Catching Mel B's Bouquet: A Hilarious Moment
Imagine catching the bouquet at a celebrity wedding, but not in the romantic way you might expect. Lou Sanders did just that at Mel B's stunning second wedding in Morocco. 'I'd just come out of the toilet,' she laughs. 'It was a funny moment - I was wiping my hands on my dress, and the bouquet fell into my arms effortlessly. Mel didn't even know I was there!'
It was actually Lou's second attempt. At the London wedding, Mel tried to throw it to her but missed. 'Any time you try and force things, they don't work,' Lou jokes. 'But if it's meant to be, it'll happen naturally.' And this time, it did.
An Unlikely Friendship
Lou's friendship with Mel B began years ago in a very showbizzy way. 'Mel came to see me support Katherine Ryan,' Lou explains. 'She burst backstage and asked when I was performing next. The next night, she was at my Soho Theatre show, with my mum and stepdad in the audience too! It was a weird but wonderful moment.'
Since then, they've become great friends. During Lou's latest tour, Mel even helped out at the merch stand, bossing everyone around and making it a hilarious experience.
The Joys of Last One Laughing
Lou's infectious humor has won her a place among Britain's most-loved comics, appearing on various shows. After winning Taskmaster in 2019, she became a fan favorite on Prime Video's Last One Laughing, hosted by Jimmy Carr. 'It was a dream job,' she says. 'I didn't have a strategy, but I went on the attack. If you're resting, you're in trouble! The danger is making yourself laugh.'
Lou made it to the final four, facing fellow comedians Bob Mortimer, Richard Ayoade, and Rob Beckett. Her good friend Mel Giedroyc is among the next batch of contestants. 'I love them all,' she says, 'but I hope Mel does well - I love her little chuckle.'
A Crazy Cat Lady's Life
Away from the spotlight, Lou lives in Margate with her beloved cats, Bobert and Baby. 'I couldn't be bothered with kids,' she laughs. 'I always wondered if I'd be the type to spoil my cats, and I absolutely would!'
Her latest obsession is a GPS pet tracker. 'It's a great tool,' she says. 'My cats live near a train track, so I set up parameters in the garden. It alerts me if they wander too far, and it has a light to help me find them.' For Lou, it's a source of peace of mind for her 'gung ho' cats.
Dreaming of Going Off-Grid
Lou's cats might not be helping her write a sitcom, but they could be part of her dream project. 'I want to sell my house and buy some land to live off-grid,' she reveals. 'I want to draw my own water and grow my food. It might even become a documentary! I want to do a Clarkson's Farm, but funnier and more unique.'
